COVID-19 Update

Late yesterday afternoon the City of Acworth made a Declaration of Emergency regarding the current COVID-19 crisis. This order is effective from 12:00PM, Wednesday, March 25, 2020 through 12:00PM, Monday, April 6, 2020. To briefly summarize sections that affect the school the most:

  • No business, establishment, corporation, non-profit corporation or organization shall allow more than ten (10) persons to be gathered at a single location if such gathering requires persons to stand or be seated within six (6) feet of any other person.
  • Restrooms, playgrounds, pavilions, baseball and football fields, batting cages and other amenities in parks will remain closed. All individuals in public places must allow for proper social distancing and maintain and restrict in person contact as much as possible and maintain a distance of 6 (six) feet between individuals.
  • All persons shall shelter in place (stay at home) as much as possible. People should only leave their homes to go to work, to obtain food, medical treatment, medication, or for an emergency.

Later in the same evening the Cobb County Chairman issued a similar Declaration of Emergency beginning March 25, 2020 at 12:00PM and continuing until April 15, 2020 at 12:00PM which includes the above and also adds:

  • public gatherings — whether inside or outdoors — of more than 10 people are prohibited anywhere in the county.
  • The county has closed all parks and recreation buildings until further notice.
  • All businesses except “Essential Businesses” (as referenced in the Declaration), can operate no earlier than 6 a.m. and no later than 9 p.m.

According to the Georgia Department of Public Health (DPH), at the time of this post, there are 1,097 confirmed COVID-19 cases in Georgia, 90 cases in Cobb County and we have had no notification from DPH of any cases affiliated with the school.
