School Closed 1/29/2019

School Systems are already starting to close, and Governor Kemp has closed all government offices for tomorrow.

The weather should not be an issue until temps falling to freezing by early to mid-afternoon, which could cause problems on some roads, bridges and overpasses.  We do NOT want a repeat of 2014 where some students and faculty were stranded at school. So in the interest of safety, we will close tomorrow.

With a hard freeze overnight, lows by sunrise Wednesday around 22, any moisture left-over will be ice. We will continue to monitor conditions for Wednesday morning.

As always, if you hear Cobb County Schools close, we will automatically close. We will also close if any 2 of the following close: Bartow, Cherokee, Fulton, or Paulding. If conditions in your area are not safe to drive, and we are not closed, any absences will be excused.

Weather for 1/29/2019

We are monitoring the weather situation for Tuesday, and remainder of the week. We will notify you should we close school.

Per our closing procedures, we automatically close whenever Cobb closes, or whenever 2 of the following close: Bartow, Cherokee, Fulton, or Paulding.

As always, should conditions where you live make travel unsafe, please stay safe, as absences for weather conditions are excused.

Blake and The R.M.S. Titanic

This model of the R.M.S. Titanic was designed and built by Blake Burnette, a 10 year old student at Brookwood Christian School. Blake loves history and has a special interest in the Titanic. He has been unable to find a model of the Titanic in stores so he designed and built his own. Blake brought the model to school and taught a class on the history of the Titanic!

When Blake began at Brookwood Christian School in September of 2017 he could not read and could barely recognize his own name. Today he is flourishing at a second grade level and teaching classes!

Blake is just one of the success stories at Brookwood Christian School!

Still Time for APOGEE!

Thanks to the cap increase for 2019 to $100 million, it appears there is still time to redirect a portion of your state taxes to scholarships for deserving students through APOGEE for the Georgia State Tax Credit Scholarship as the cap has not yet been met!

There’s no telling how long this may last, so don’t delay if interested. You can find more information HERE.

2019 Ride 2 Read Sponsorships & Tickets

Our 2nd Annual Ride 2 Read is an escorted ride scheduled for Saturday, March 23, 2019. Breakfast, catered by Henry’s Louisiana Grill, will begin at 9AM and the Ride will take off at 10AM.

Last year’s ride, our very first, generated almost $2,000 and helped our reading programs and enabled us to sponsor International Dyslexia Association events in Georgia.

This year, we have our brand new Upper School building on the very site of where the picnic tables were last year! The support of all the riders was a great help in expanding our programs.

There will be live music again this year by David Arnold as well as other activities by sponsors.

For more information and to purchase tickets, click HERE.

We hope to see you on the 23rd!
