One of our graduates, Jarid, is enrolled at Chattahoochee Tech in a video production program. He recently filmed this mini “documentary” about our school and how it helped him. The video says it all.

Our #MyGivingStory for #GivingTuesday is to give back to a business that supports our fundraising endeavors, Lake City & Acworth Animal Hospitals. We will have #GivingTowelTuesday on the last Tuesday of the month to collect gently used towels and blankets to use for boarding and transport for Road Trip Home Animal Rescue, another cause they support.
We are a private school that serves students who have not been successful in public or private schools due to their unique learning needs. Many of our students are diagnosed with a language based learning disability such as dyslexia.
The current campus was established in 2008 by current Principal/Director, Kim Wigington, in order to better serve her two daughters’ reading comprehension concerns, one with dyslexia and the other an English language learner, adopted from Latvia.
While we are extremely proud of the achievements of our students, we would like to be able to help more students in need of the same services. We have outgrown the current building and are in the process of expanding our campus, costing approximately $675,000, which is why we are eternally grateful to Lake City & Acworth Animal Hospitals for their support in our continuing fundraising efforts.
Look at the wonderful art projects our students did during Ms. Nadiya’s art class!
Great news! Brookwood Christian just earned the Platinum Seal of Transparency from
GuideStar, the world’s largest source of nonprofit information.
By sharing these metrics, we’re helping the sector move beyond simplistic financial ratios to assess nonprofit progress.
We chose to display quantitative metrics such as:
- Number of Students Showing Improvement in Test Scores,
- Number of Students Graduating,
- Number of Students Planning Post-Secondary Education,
- Per Pupil Expenditures, and
- Administrative Costs,
to represent how hard Brookwood Christian is working toward achieving our mission.
Tracking and sharing this information gives not only us, but also potential donors, relevant information on the results we are getting, for what cost, and how funds are allocated.
We’re proud to use GuideStar Platinum to share our full and complete story with the world. To reach
the Platinum level, we added extensive information to our Nonprofit Profile: basic contact and
organizational information; in-depth financial information; quantitative information about goals,
strategies, and progress toward our mission.
